Lee’s Summit, MO (April 15, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Jackson County left two people injured. At around 6 p.m., on April 13, calls for assistance came in surrounding an auto accident on Interstate 470.
Reports provided by local authorities show that a 2018 Toyota Rav4 was traveling on the southbound side of Interstate 470 in the Lee’s Summit area. For unknown reasons, the vehicle changed lanes near mile marker 10.4 and crashed into a 2020 Toyota Highlander. The impact of the crash sent the Highlander off the road and into a ditch.
The driver of the Highlander, 40-year-old Frederick Karumbi, and his passenger, a 7-year-old female, were both injured in the crash. The two victims were transported to St Luke’s East Hospital for emergency medical care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Frederick Karumbi and the child injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
