Monett Township, MO (April 5, 2022) – Two people have lost their lives as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Barry County on Sunday afternoon, April 3.
Just after 12:20 p.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an accident on Highway 37.
Preliminary investigations show that a 2011 Nissan Sentra was traveling on the highway when it crossed over the center line and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to overturn.
Two people involved in the accident sustained fatal injuries. The victims were identified as 77-year-old Sally Daugherty and a 17-year-old female. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A third victim, 41-year-old Rebecca Daugherty, was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for the treatment of injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
