St Francois, MO (April 11, 2022) – Two people have lost their lives in an auto accident in the St Francois area. At around 9:45 a.m., on April 2, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of an auto accident on Missouri State Route 8.
Reports provided by local authorities show that a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and a 2005 Mazda Tribute collided on Missouri 8 just east of Dayne Lane during the morning hours. The incident left both vehicles totaled.
The driver of the Mazda, 57-year-old Damian Nino, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries. A passenger in the second vehicle, a 17-year-old female, also suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 43-year-old Eric McCarty, was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital via Air Evac for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
