Boone, MO (December 5, 2022) – Authorities in Boone County were called to a traffic accident that took place on Monday morning that left several people injured. At around 8 a.m., on December 5, troopers were notified that a crash took place on US Highway 40.
Reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol show that a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan was stopped while waiting to turn on US Highway 40, westbound just 830 feet west of Cunningham Drive. For reasons unknown, the driver of a 2022 Chevrolet 4500 failed to see the vehicle stopped ahead. As a result, the Chevrolet crashed into the rear of the Volkswagen. Both vehicles were severely damaged. The two vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Four people were hurt due to this traffic crash. The victims were identified as 66-year-old Robert Greenwood, 27-year-old Daniel Ploudre, a 2-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old female. All four victims were transported by EMS to University Hospital, where they underwent treatment for the injuries they suffered.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
