Jefferson, MO (December 11, 2022) – Authorities in Jefferson County responded to the scene of a traffic accident that took place on Sunday afternoon that left two people injured. Just after 1:45 p.m., on December 11, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified that a traffic wreck had occurred on US Highway 67.
According to law enforcement, a 2022 GMC Terrain attempted to cross US Highway 67 at the intersection of Montauk Drive. However, the driver failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2006 Nissan Murano. As a result, the two vehicles collided.
Two people were hurt as a result of the crash.
The victims were identified as 34-year-old Melissa Armes and 68-year-old Madonna Sitzes. Both victims were transported to Mercy Hospital in Jefferson, Missouri, for further care.
The crash remains under investigation.
