Kelso, MO (December 4, 2022) – A traffic accident took place in Scott County that claimed the lives of three people. On December 3, at around 7 p.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 55.
According to authorities, a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck was driving northbound on Interstate 55. An animal ran out in front of the vehicle, causing the driver of the pickup truck to swerve near mile marker 85.6. The Ford went off the roadway and struck a tree.
Three people died as a result of the accident. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 19-year-old Mallory Carter, 20-year-old Andrew Marzuco, and 20-year-old Audrey Smith.
Three other victims were injured. The three victims were identified as 20-year-old Maria Marzuco, 22-year-old Grace Makowski, and 24-year-old Katherine Nations. The three victims were transported to St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The incident remains under investigation.
