Car Accidents in Missouri
Each year, thousands of people are left with severe injuries as a result of traffic accidents in the state of Missouri. Car accidents can be traumatizing and leave you feeling helpless. If you were hurt in a car accident that was caused by another driver’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries. Most car accident cases are settled out of court. However, if you choose to file a lawsuit, a Kennett car accident attorney can help you navigate the legal system and fight for fair compensation on your behalf. When it comes to personal injury cases involving car accidents, Missouri follows the doctrine of comparative fault. This means that each party is responsible for their own damages, up to the percentage they are at fault. For example, if you are 20% at fault for a vehicle crash, you can only recover 80% of the compensation to cover the damages that you face from the other driver.
Unfortunately, insurance companies know this very well and will do whatever they can to shift the blame onto you. This can draw out the legal process and result in overwhelming stress for you and your family. The truth of the matter is that filing a personal injury lawsuit can be complicated and time-consuming. A car accident attorney can help you compile evidence, take statements from witnesses, and build a strong case.
