Fatal Car Accidents in Missouri

Springfield, MO – Rita Deckard Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck on S Glenstone Ave near I-44According to Missouri crash data, there are several leading causes of fatal car crashes in the state. Speed, alcohol use, and failure to wear a seat belt are among the most common contributing factors.

Speeding remains a problem on Missouri roads despite significant public education and enforcement efforts. When drivers are speeding, they are less likely to be able to control their vehicles while traveling around curves in the road and in inclement weather conditions. They may also struggle to maintain control of their vehicles while approaching congested areas in the road.

Alcohol use is another contributing factor that we see in many fatal accidents in our state. Divers who are impaired often struggle to make sound decisions. Impairment can prevent drivers from being able to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Finally, drivers who fail to use their seatbelts while traveling along our roadways are more likely to suffer severe and fatal injuries and accidents. Although it is important and it is also a state law that drivers are using their seatbelts at all times, we continue to see innocent people lose their lives as a result of being ejected from vehicles due to not having their seatbelts properly secured.

If your loved one has died as a result of the fatal accident, you may be able to seek financial compensation from the driver who caused the crash. A wrongful death lawyer in Springfield can help you pursue legal action.
