Fatal Car Accidents in Missouri
Each year, hundreds of people suffer fatal injuries due to traffic accidents that occur in Missouri. Regrettably, there are many cases where people lose their lives as a result of head-on collisions. Most head-on collisions are caused by drivers who travel over the center of the roadway. This type of collision is especially fatal because the impact is usually head-on, resulting in serious injuries or death.
In a head-on collision, both vehicles are traveling in opposite directions and the force of the impact is concentrated on the front ends of both vehicles. The driver and passengers in both vehicles can be seriously injured or killed. Head-on collisions account for a small percentage of all traffic crashes, but they cause a disproportionate number of fatalities.
There are several factors that contribute to head-on crashes, but one of the most common is driver error. When drivers cross over the center line of the road, they put themselves and others at risk for a serious collision. In many cases, head-on collisions could be prevented if drivers would stay within their own lanes.
