Joplin, MO (February 14, 2022) – A total of five people were injured in a motor vehicle accident following a crash on Saturday evening in Jasper County. At around 10:05 p.m., on February 12, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Missouri State Highway 43.
Reports from authorities show that a collision between a 2021 Hyundai Sonata and a 1978 Dodge W200 occurred on the highway just five miles north of Joplin.
Both vehicles were left totaled and had to be towed from the scene.
Five people in the Sonata were injured. EMS transported 21-year-old Gayatori Peddi, 22-year-old Saketh Ballampally, and 24-year-old Harshini Vinnakota to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Two other victims, 22-year-old Teza Maguluri and 28-year-old Praveen Nerji, were both transported to Mercy Hospital for emergency medical care.
At this time, Highway Patrol is investigating.
