Joplin, MO (January 10, 2022) – One man was left seriously injured as a result of a truck accident in Newton County on Sunday evening, January 9. At around 7:45 p.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol was requested on-site at a crash on Interstate 44.
Reports from MSHP show that a collision involving a 2019 Volvo tractor, a 2016 Freightliner, a 2016 Volvo tractor, and an additional Freightliner occurred on Interstate 44 just two miles west of Joplin.
The driver of one of the Freightliners was injured in the accident. EMS transported 31-year-old Jamshid Shomirzayev to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for further care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
