Newtonia, MO (May 18, 2021) – Four people received injuries when two motorcycles collided with one another on Sunday, May 16th in Newton County.
Sources reported that the accident happened at about 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 86 and Route M in Newtonia when one of the motorcycles slowed down to make a lefthand turn and was struck from behind by the other.
Both drivers, 50-year-old Mark A. Tackett, a resident of Neosho, and 58-year-old David M. Theis, a resident of Joplin, sustained non-critical injuries during the crash.
Tackett’s rider, 49-year-old Kendra S. Coffee, also from Neosho, was transported via ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin with moderate injuries.
Theis’ rider, 57-year-old Ni C. Wehr, also from Joplin, was also moderately injured and taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin.
Tackett was eastbound and slowing to make a left turn when Theis ran into him from behind, the patrol said.
