Cooter Township, MO – Wayne Sumlin Hospitalized Following Truck Crash on I-55 near MM 7

Cooter Township, MO (July 8, 2022) – A truck accident reported in Pemiscot County left one man injured. At around 1:05 p.m., on July 6, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of a crash that occurred on Interstate 55.

Reports provided by the Highway Patrol show that a 2020 Kenworth semi-truck crashed into the rear of a 2019 International on the southbound side of Interstate 55 near mile marker seven. The impact of the crash caused the Kenworth to run off the left side of the roadway and crash into a cable barrier.

The driver of the international, 63-year-old Wayne Sumlin, sustained moderate injuries as a result of the accident. Sumlin was transported by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Missouri for emergency medical care.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
