Joplin, MO (July 28, 2022) – Two people suffered injuries following a crash in Newton County on Tuesday afternoon. At around 2:20 p.m., on July 26, officers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol received a request for assistance at the scene of a crash that occurred on Missouri State Route 43.
Reports from authorities show that a 2017 Honda Civic was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn off of Missouri State Route 43. For unknown reasons, the vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The impact of the crash caused the Honda to then strike a 2019 Kia Niro. The Honda was totaled in the accident. The Kia and Jeep suffered moderate damage. Three tow trucks were requested at the scene to remove all of the damaged vehicles.
The driver of the Honda, 23-year-old Madison Hogan, and the driver of the Kia, 24-year-old Rylee Hammons, suffered injuries in the crash. Both victims were transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, where they underwent further medical care for their injuries.
The crash is under investigation at this time.
