Malden, MO (July 20, 2022) – A crash reported in New Madrid County sent two men to area hospitals with injuries. At around 11:35 a.m., on July 19, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified that a motor vehicle accident involving several vehicles occurred on US Highway 62.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities located a 1998 Ford F150 pickup truck, a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck, and a 1991 Peterbilt semi-truck with damage on US Highway 62. Preliminary investigations show that the Peterbilt pulled out in front of the Dodge, resulting in both vehicles colliding. The Peterbilt then crashed into the Ford. All three vehicles suffered severe damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Two people involved in the truck accident were injured. EMS transported 83-year-old Lewis Melton and 69-year-old Jessie Merriman to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for the treatment of injuries following this crash.
The crash is under investigation at this time.
