Monroe City, MO (July 3, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Marion County claimed one man’s life. Just before 11 p.m., on June 30, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 36.
Reports provided by authorities show that a 1999 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on US Highway 36 when it became involved in a collision with a 2014 Ford Escape. Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. The two vehicles were totaled and had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, 47-year-old Mark Kane, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Escape, 22-year-old Austin Sloan, suffered significant injuries as a result of the accident. He was transported by Survival Flight to University Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri for emergency medical treatment.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
