St Charles, MO – Truck Crash on Highway 79 near I-70 Injures John Mertens

St Charles, MO (July 28, 2022) – A man from Winfield, Missouri, suffered injuries as a result of a truck accident that took place on Wednesday morning. At around 9:05 a.m., on July 27, emergency crews in St. Charles responded to the scene of a crash on Highway 79.

Reports surrounding the accident provided by Missouri State Highway Patrol Master Sgt. TR Jenkins indicate that a 1994 Kenworth conventional and a 2013 Honda fit were both traveling southbound on Highway 79. As the vehicles approached the area just north of Interstate 70, the two became involved in a collision.

The driver of the Honda, 44-year-old John Mertens, from Winfield, Missouri, suffered moderate injuries as a result of the crash. Mertens was transported by St. Charles County EMS to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for emergency medical treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by MSHP at this time.
