Jefferson City, MO (June 20, 2022) – One woman has lost her life as a result of a crash in the Jefferson City area. At around 3:15 p.m., on June 16, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash on US Highway 54.
Reports from Missouri State Highway Patrol show that a 2016 Subaru Outback and a 2000 Buick Lesabre collided on US Highway 54 in the area of Hamman Drive. The crash left bot vehicles totaled, requiring them to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Buick, 84-year-old Mary Chegwidden, suffered severe injuries in the accident. She was transported to Capital Region Hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.
A second victim, 40-year-old Shaun McClure, was transported to University Hospital by Cole County EMS.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
