Raytown, MO – Marianne Fortney Loses Life in Crash at E 71st Terrace & Raytown Rd

Raytown, MO (June 25, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Jackson County claimed one woman’s life. At around 9:45 p.m., on June 23, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash on East 71st Terrace.

Reports from authorities show that a 2010 Honda Civic and a 2015 GMC Yukon collided on Raytown Road in the area of East 71st Terrace. Both vehicles were totaled as a result of the accident and had to be towed from the scene.

EMS rendered aid to 22-year-old Marianne Fortney and 56-year-old Michael Smallwood at the scene. Smallwood was then transported to Truman Hospital on the Plaza for the treatment of injuries. Fortney was transported to Research Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
