Charleston, MO (March 18, 2022) – Several people have lost their lives following a motor vehicle accident in Mississippi County on Thursday, March 18.
Reports from authorities show that more than 50 vehicles were involved in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 57.
The auto collision prompted the closure of Interstate 57 between Interstate 55 and the Illinois state line.
A total of six people sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident. Emergency crews rendered aid to multiple victims at the scene before transporting those in need of further treatment to area hospitals. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
