Columbia, MO (March 13, 2022) – A woman and three children were left with serious injuries following a truck crash in Boone County on Thursday morning. At around 8:15 a.m., on March 9, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified that a major motor vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 70 Drive Northwest that required assistance.
Reports show that a 2007 Freightliner T38 dump truck drifted off the right side of Interstate 70 Drive Northwest. The driver of the truck then overcorrected and returned to the roadway. The truck crossed over the center of the road and crashed into a 2015 Nissan Armada just west of Cynthia Drive.
The driver of the Nissan, 34-year-old Ashley Abernathy, and three children, a 5-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy, and a 9-year-old boy, all suffered serious injuries. The four victims were rushed to University Hospital for emergency medical care.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
