Freedom Township, MO (March 22, 2022) – An auto accident reported in Lafayette County left two people injured. Just after 2 a.m., on March 21, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 70.
Reports provided by authorities show that a 2016 Toyota Corolla was traveling on Interstate 70 when it struck a deer just east of mile marker 52. The Toyota then came to rest in the roadway. A 2022 Kenworth then crashed into the Toyota. The impact sent the Toyota off the roadway.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.
The two occupants of the Toyota were injured. EMS transported 28-year-old Kenya Smith and 29-year-old Shontavius Smith to Western Missouri Medical Center for further care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
