Fruitland, MO (March 20, 2022) – One woman was transported to an area hospital with injuries as a result of a collision in Cape Girardeau County. At around 9:15 p.m., on March 17, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Route C.
Reports from Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper L J Haggett show that a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu failed to yield the right of way t o a 2014 Hyundai Sonata on Route C just 1/2-mile north of Fruitland. As a result, the two vehicles collided. The impact of the crash caused the Chevrolet to strike a 2020 Hyundai Elantra.
The Elantra’s driver, 23-year-old Elaine Edwards, sustained injuries in the accident. Edwards was transported to St Francis Medical Center for the treatment of injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
