Exeter, MO (May 5, 2022) – One man lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Exeter on Monday evening, May 2. At around 6:40 p.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of an auto accident on Highway 76.
Reports from authorities show that a collision between a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2006 Mini Cooper occurred on Highway 76 just one mile west of Exeter. The incident left both vehicles totaled, requiring them to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Mini Cooper, 37-year-old James Johnson, sustained fatal injuries in the wreck. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, 35-year-old Johnathan Lewis, sustained moderate injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
