Franklin, MO – Car Crash with Injuries Reported on I-44 near MM 253

Franklin, MO (May 31, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Franklin area left one woman injured. At around 2:10 a.m., on May 28, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 44.

Reports from local authorities show that the driver of a 2019 Kia Optima became distracted while operating their vehicle on the westbound side of Interstate 44. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the rear of a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox near mile marker 253. The incident left both vehicles with significant damage, requiring them to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 44-year-old Maria Hurtado, sustained injuries in the accident. She was transported by Union EMS to Mercy Hospital in Washington for emergency medical care.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
