Jefferson, MO (May 19, 2022) – One man has lost his life as a result of a train accident that took place in Jefferson on Monday morning, May 16. At around 11 a.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of an auto accident that took place on Windsor Harbor Lane.
Reports from authorities show that a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup truck was traveling south on Windsor Harbor Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle became involved in a collision with a Union Pacific train near the southbound side of Windsor Harbor Lane. The truck was totaled as a result of the crash and had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the truck, 61-year-old Edward Barczewski, suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two passengers in the vehicle suffered significant injuries. Mercy flight helicopter transported 57-year-old Tamara Barczewski to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital.
A second passenger, a 3-year-old male, was transported to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital by Rock Township Ambulance District.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
