St Charles, MO (May 19, 2022) – One woman was left injured as a result of a multi-vehicle collision that took place in the St. Charles area on Monday morning, May 16. Just before 8 a.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 70.

Reports from authorities show that a 2014 Kia Sorrento was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70. For unknown reasons, the vehicle experienced an equipment failure with the front tire. As a result, the vehicle spun out into Lane to where it collided with a 2019 Toyota Tundra just east of Mid Rivers Mall Drive.

The impact of the crash caused the Kia to collide with a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. The Kia and the Mitsubishi sustained moderate damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 51-year-old Sophia Robinson, sustained injuries as a result of the accident. Robinson was transported by St. Charles County Ambulance District to SSM Health St. Joseph East Hospital for further care.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with Sophia Robinson at this time. We hope for her full recovery.
