Blackwater, MO (November 30, 2022) – A traffic collision took place in the Blackwater area on Wednesday morning that claimed the life of 24-year-old Kyle Horak of Benton, Illinois.
On November 30, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified that a traffic accident occurred on Interstate 70. Calls for help came in at around 930 a.m.
According to law enforcement in Cooper County, a 2007 Chrysler PT cruiser was involved in a collision on the westbound side of Interstate 70 near mile marker 91. The vehicle was totaled after going off the roadway, crashing into median cable barriers, and overturning.
One man involved in the accident, identified as Horak, was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old female and a 25-year-old female, identified as Emma Sweat and Lacie Ringo, were both injured. The two victims were transported by Saline County Ambulance to the University of Missouri Hospital, where they underwent emergency care.
The crash remains under investigation.
