Car Accidents in Missouri
Auto collisions occur daily in Missouri that have devastating consequences for those involved. We see many people harmed as a result of crashes that are caused by negligent motorists. Unfortunately, there are several actions that continue to cause injuries to others day after day. Some of the leading factors in vehicle collisions include:
- Distracted drivers: Drivers who are distracted by their cell phones, radios, or other passengers in the car are more likely to make mistakes that can lead to an accident.
- Failing to yield: When drivers fail to yield the right of way to pedestrians or other vehicles, they put themselves and others at risk.
- Drivers who are impaired: Alcohol and drugs impair a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. Even prescription medications can cause drowsiness and affect a driver’s reaction time.
If you have been hurt as a result of the traffic collision, you may be able to pursue legal action against the person who is responsible. Following your crash, you can recover financial compensation for some of the damages you face. This includes compensation for:
- Vehicle repair costs: Vehicle repair costs can include the cost of repairs to your vehicle as well as the cost of renting a replacement vehicle while yours is being repaired. If your vehicle is totaled in the accident, you may be able to recover the value of your vehicle.
- Medical costs: Medical expenses can include the cost of surgery, medication, rehabilitation, and physical therapy. If you have suffered a permanent injury, you may also be able to recover the cost of future medical care related to any medication or medical devices you may need.
- Loss of enjoyment of life: Loss of enjoyment of life damages can compensate you for the pain and suffering caused by your injuries. This includes both physical pain and emotional distress. If your injuries have left you unable to participate in activities that you enjoy, such as work or hobbies, you may be able to recover damages for this loss.
