Car Accidents in Missouri
Year after year, car accidents continue to be a leading cause of severe injuries and death in our state. Despite the number of laws we have in place to protect motorists, we continue to see countless innocent people left severely injured and hospitalized. Unfortunately, there are many factors that contribute to these accidents taking place. Some of the most common causes of accidents include driver error. Leading factors in crashes that are reported in the state of Missouri include:
- Distracted Driving: With the increasing use of cell phones and other electronic devices, distracted driving has become a leading cause of car accidents. When drivers take their eyes off the road to look at their phones or change the music, they’re putting themselves and others at risk.
- Drunk Driving: Drunk driving is one of the most dangerous things you can do on the road. It significantly impairs your ability to operate a vehicle safely, and unfortunately, it’s all too common. Every day, nearly 30 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes.
- Speeding: Unfortunately, speeding is one of the leading causes of serious accidents and injuries on our roads. Not only does speeding dramatically increase the rate of accidents taking place, but that also contributes to the severity of injuries that people suffer in crashes.
- Reckless Driving: Like speeding, reckless driving is another major contributing factor to accidents on our roads. Switching lanes in a reckless manner, running red lights, or weaving between lanes of travel can cause severe accidents.
