Car Accidents in Missouri

Jefferson, MO – Auto Accident Reported on Vogel Rd near Miller Rd Leaves Woman InjuredEvery day, we see life-changing car crashes take place in the state of Missouri. There are many types of actions that take place day after day in our state. We see many people suffer severe injuries as a result of these collisions. Unfortunately, many of them are preventable.  One of the most common types of accidents that impact the lives of Missourians is rear-end collisions. These accidents can take place for a variety of reasons. However, many of them involved negligence. Leading causes of rear-end crashes include:

  • Driver Inattention or Distraction: The leading cause of rear-end collisions is driver inattention or distraction. When a driver takes their eyes off the road, even for a split second, they can miss critical information that could prevent a collision. For example, if a car ahead of them suddenly stops, they may not have time to react and avoid a crash.
  • Following Too Closely: Tailgating, or driving too close to the car in front of you, reduces your reaction time if that car has to brake suddenly. It also increases the severity of the impact if you do collide with the other vehicle.
  • Speeding: When drivers are going too fast, they may not be able to stop in time if the car ahead of them brakes suddenly. Speeding also increases the severity of an impact if there is a collision.
