Jefferson, MO – Janet Hayes Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck on US-61 near Beth Dr

Jefferson, MO (November 22, 2022) – A traffic accident reported in Jefferson County claimed one woman’s life. At around 11:50 a.m., on November 17, authorities were called to the scene of a traffic accident reported on US Highway 61.

According to law enforcement, a 2007 Nissan versa was stopped at the intersection of US Highway 61 and Beth Drive. As the vehicle pulled through the intersection, the vehicle was struck on the left side by a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado. Both vehicles were severely damaged due to the accident.

EMS responded to the scene and provided care to 40-year-old Jedidiah McCormick and 73-year-old Janet Hayes. The two victims were transported to Mercy Hospital South, where they underwent emergency care.

Authorities confirmed that Hayes passed away from her injuries after arriving.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
