Car Accidents in Missouri
A motor vehicle accident can stop your life in an instant. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of people in our state are involved in auto accidents every year. Reports provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that more than 40% of traffic accidents across the country take place at intersections.
There are a number of reasons why car accidents happen at intersections. The most common cause is when one driver fails to yield the right of way to another driver who has the right of way. This can happen when one driver is turning left and does not see oncoming traffic or when one driver is making a right turn and does not see a car coming from the left.
Another common cause of intersection-related accidents is running red lights or stop signs. Drivers may be in a hurry and not pay attention to the traffic signal, or they may misjudge how long it will take them to get through the intersection. Either way, this is a dangerous behavior that can lead to serious accidents.
Making illegal turns is another cause of car accidents at intersections. This can happen when a driver tries to make a right turn at a red light or when they make a left turn from the wrong lane. Both of these maneuvers are against the law, and they put other drivers at risk.
