Jefferson, MO – Three-Vehicle Wreck on I-55 near Imperial Main St Ends in Injuries

Jefferson, MO (November 2, 2022) – A traffic collision took place in Jefferson County on Monday evening that resulted in injuries. At around 4:55 p.m., on October 31, officers were called to the scene of a traffic incident that occurred on Interstate 55.

According to reports, a 2013 Ford Fiesta and a 2019 Chevrolet Trax were both traveling at a low rate of speed on the southbound side of Interstate 55 as they approached congestion that was positioned in lane four. At the same time, a 2020 Toyota RAV4 was traveling in lane three on the southbound side of the roadway. The vehicle made an improper lane change and collided with the Chevrolet. The vehicle then struck the Ford.

The three vehicles were severely damaged as a result of the accident. All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Ford, 62-year-old Thomas Smyth of Imperial, Missouri, suffered injuries in the accident. He was transported to Mercy Hospital South, where he underwent treatment for his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
