Joplin, MO (November 16, 2022) – A traffic accident reported in Newton County just one mile south of Joplin, Missouri, sent an 80-year-old man from Seneca, Missouri, to the hospital with serious injuries.
Reports provided by authorities show that the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet equinox crossed over the center lines of Highway 43 and crashed into the side of a 2016 Ford expedition. Both vehicles were severely damaged due to the crash. The two vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
One victim involved in the accident, identified as 80-year-old Steve VanPelt, suffered injuries in the crash. He was rushed by ambulance to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, where he underwent emergency treatment.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are currently underway.
