Categorized as Auto Accidents, Personal Injury

Lebanon, MO (November 3, 2022) – A traffic accident took place in Laclede County that resulted in injuries. On November 1, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash on Highway 5.

Preliminary investigations show that at 4:50 p.m., a vehicle stopped on the northbound lanes of Highway 5. This caused a 2018 Ford Escape, a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck, and a 2012 Chevrolet traverse to all break abruptly. The two Fords then began to skid. The Chevrolet also began to skid and slid into the rear of the Ford F150. The impact of the collision caused the Ford to strike the Ford Escape. All three vehicles were severely damaged in the accident.

The driver of the Ford Escape, 63-year-old Gregory Roth of Moline, Illinois, and a passenger inside of the Chevrolet, a 14-year-old female from Eldridge, Missouri, were both injured in the crash. EMS transported Ross to Lake Regional Hospital, for the treatment of moderate injuries. The teen was transported to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri, for the treatment of minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

We hope Gregory Roth and the teen hurt in this crash recovered quickly.

  • Traumatic brain injuries (that can lead to paralysis)
  • Broken bones and compound fractures (that can lead to loss of limbs)
  • Internal organ injuries (spleen, lungs, kidneys, etc.)
  • Head and neck injuries (concussion, TBIs, whiplash, etc.)

In many cases, these accidents are entirely lost dairy preventable. Innocent people continually suffer debilitating consequences as a result of drivers who are negligent.

Failing to yield can also be very dangerous, as it often leads to head-on collisions. Missouri law requires drivers to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and bicyclists when turning left, and to oncoming traffic when making a right turn on red.

Distracted driving is another major factor in car accidents, as it can lead to impaired judgment and reaction time. Drivers should avoid all distractions while behind the wheel, including texting, talking on the phone, eating, drinking, and adjusting the radio.

Drunk driving is perhaps the most dangerous behavior on the road, as it significantly impairs a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. In Missouri, it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08% or higher. However, we see many people who are involved in accidents as a result of drinking and driving.
