Car Accidents in Missouri

Meramec, MO – Valecia Ruzicka Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on MO-30 near Local Hillsboro RdMany people who are involved in automobile accidents are left with significant injuries. Unfortunately, they often face mental and financial suffering as well. Every year, thousands of people are hospitalized with severe injuries that impact their lives forever. Trying to overcome painful physical and emotional injuries can be incredibly difficult.

When victims are harmed in accidents, they are able to pursue legal action against the responsible party. When it comes to awarding damages for car accident victims, the doctrine of pure comparative negligence is followed here in the state of Missouri. This means that if you are involved in a car crash, your damages will be reduced by the percentage of fault that is attributable to you. For example, if you are found to be 20% at fault for a car crash that caused $10,000 in damage, your damages would be reduced by $2,000.

This doctrine can have a significant impact on your case if you are involved in a car crash. Insurance companies will do whatever they can to try to shift the majority of the blame for the accident onto you. They do this to avoid paying you the maximum amount of compensation possible for your legal claim. If you are even slightly at fault for the crash, it is important to speak with an experienced Meramec car accident lawyer who can help you understand your options and how the comparative negligence doctrine may apply to your case.
