Car Accidents in Missouri

Monett, MO – Two injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on US-60Each year, car crashes cause injuries to tens of thousands of people in the state of Missouri. Many of these accidents involve acts of negligence. Unfortunately, there are many cases where people are harmed in accidents that are entirely preventable.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drivers who fail to yield when pulling out of driveways are one of the leading causes of car crashes. In fact, there are an estimated 50,000 car crashes caused by this type of driver error each year in the United States.

When you’re pulling out of a driveway, if there’s a car coming down the street, you must wait until it passes before proceeding. If you don’t, and you pull out in front of the oncoming car, you’ve failed to yield the right-of-way.

There are a few things you can do to avoid becoming one of these statistics. First, always look both ways before pulling out of your driveway – even if there’s no traffic in sight. Second, if someone is coming down the street while you’re trying to leave your driveway, be patient and wait until they pass before pulling out.
