Car Accidents in Missouri
A vehicle accident can change your life forever. Trying to overcome painful physical injuries can be challenging, especially if you are dealing with emotional and mental consequences as well. It is also incredibly common for victims of car accidents to deal with towering financial burdens. Victims of car accidents are often forced to spend extended time off work, go through extensive medical treatment, and pay to repair their vehicles.
If you have been hurt as a result of an automobile accident, you may be able to pursue legal action against the person who caused you harm. It is important to understand that the state of Missouri operates on a pure comparative negligence doctrine when it comes to legal actions involving car accidents. What this means essentially is that you will be able to recover compensation for the damages that you face as a result of your accident in the amount up to the percent of the fault of the defendant.
For example, if you were found to contribute 5% of the fault to the accident, and you received an award of $100,000, the amount that you recover would be decreased by the 5% of the fault that you share. This can be incredibly complicated to understand, especially if you are trying to overcome painful physical injuries. For this reason, it is important that you reach out to a car accident lawyer in Mountain Grove right away.
