Fatal Car Accidents in Missouri
Auto accidents in the state of Missouri take the lives of more than a thousand victims every year. There are many cases where people lose their lives as a result of driver negligence. When vehicles cross over the centerline of travel, they place the lives of every other driver sharing the road at risk of being severely harmed. Unfortunately, this is an action that continues to happen day after day in our state. Some of the common causes of these accidents include:
- Distracted driving: With more and more people using phones and other devices while behind the wheel, it’s no surprise that distracted driving is becoming a bigger problem. When motorists take their attention off the road ahead, even for a moment, they’re more likely to veer into oncoming traffic.
- Drowsy driving: Drivers who are tired are also more likely to cross over the centerline. Drowsy driving is especially dangerous because it can happen without warning – you might not realize you’re falling asleep at the wheel until it’s too late.
- Intoxication: Drugs, both illegal and prescription, can also impair drivers and increase the risk of an accident. Regrettably, driving while impaired can cause you to veer into oncoming traffic and cause a severe accident.
