Distracted driving can be caused by anything that takes a driver’s eyes and focus off the road, including talking or texting on a cellphone, eating or drinking, talking to passengers, adjusting the radio, or looking at something outside the vehicle.

Other common causes of rear-end collisions include following too closely (tailgating), driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol, drowsy driving, and bad weather conditions.
