Car Accidents in Missouri
Vehicle accidents occur daily in the state of Missouri. Quite often, they can be contributed to negligence. Some of the most common causes of crashes in our state include:
- Distracted Driving: With more and more people using cell phones and other electronic devices while behind the wheel, it’s no wonder that distracted driving is becoming one of the leading causes of car accidents. Whether you’re sending a text message, checking your email, or simply talking on the phone, taking your attention off the road for even a few seconds can have devastating consequences.
- Drunk Driving: Drunk driving is another major contributing factor to car accidents in Missouri. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs impairs your ability to operate a vehicle safely and increases your chances of getting into an accident. In fact, alcohol was a factor in nearly 30% of all fatal car accidents in Missouri last year.
- Speeding: Speed kills, as they say, and that’s certainly true when it comes to car accidents. Exceeding the posted speed limit or driving too fast for road conditions makes it more difficult to control your vehicle and increases the severity of an accident if one does occur.
- Reckless Driving: Weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating, making unsafe lane changes, and running red lights are all examples of reckless driving. This type of dangerous behavior puts both the driver and others on the road at risk of being involved in an accident.
