Car Accidents in Missouri

Cassville, MO – MSHP Responds to Injury Crash on MO-76 near Farm Rd 1145Many accidents that take place here in the state of Missouri are a result of negligent drivers. When drivers engage in acts of negligence while behind the wheel, they place innocent people at risk. Unfortunately, we see many people left with traumatic brain injuries and broken bones as a result of careless drivers. Some leading factors in vehicle collisions across our state each year include:

  • Distracted Driving: Distracted driving includes anything that takes a driver’s attention away from the task of driving, such as talking on the phone, texting, eating, drinking, or adjusting the radio. Distracted driving is responsible for thousands of car accidents each year, and it is particularly dangerous because it increases the chances of a driver not seeing another vehicle or pedestrian until it is too late to avoid a collision.
  • Driving Under the Influence: Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is never safe, and it is against the law in Missouri. Drivers who choose to get behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs are putting themselves and others at risk of being involved in a serious accident.
  • Fatigued Driving: Fatigued driving occurs when a driver is so tired that he or she cannot safely operate a motor vehicle. Fatigue can set in after just a few hours without sleep, and it can make it difficult for drivers to stay focused on the road. Drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as drunk driving, and it is a major cause of accidents in Missouri.
