According to local law enforcement, just after 445 p.m., a 2003 Chevrolet Impala failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle on County Road 8170, just north of Doolittle, Missouri. The passenger was transported by Phelps Health Ambulance to Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla, Missouri, for emergency care. The motorcycle driver, 35-year-old Jeremy Lane, was flown by Phelps Air to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, where he was treated for serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.

Motorcycle Accidents in Missouri

Doolittle, MO – Jeremy Lane & Child Injured in Motorcycle Crash on County Rd 8170Motorcycle accidents are some of the most severe types of collisions that occur in the state of Missouri each year. Unfortunately, these accidents send countless people to hospitals with injuries every year in our state. Motorcycle crashes can be caused by a number of factors, but some of the most common include:

  • Distracted driving: Drivers who are not paying attention to the road are more likely to fail to see a motorcycle, leading to a collision.
  • Drivers who fail to check their blind spots: Motorcycles are small and can easily be hidden in a car’s blind spot. If a driver does not check their blind spot before changing lanes, they may collide with a motorcycle.
  • Speeding: Speeding is dangerous for all drivers, but it is especially dangerous for motorcycle riders. Motorcycles are less stable and less visible than other vehicles, so speeding makes it more likely that a rider will lose control or be involved in an accident.
  • Failing to yield the right of way: When drivers fail to yield the right of way to motorcycles, it can lead to serious accidents. Motorcyclists have the same rights as other motorists on the road, and drivers need to be aware of them in order to avoid collisions.
