Joplin, MO (October 30, 2022) – A traffic collision took place in Newton County that resulted in injuries. On October 29, at around 12:50 p.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of a collision on Gateway Drive.
According to reports, a 2022 Kia Telluride failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2006 Mini Cooper. As a result, the two vehicles collided on Gateway Drive just three miles south of Joplin, Missouri. The impact of the collision caused the Kia to strike a 2010 Jeep Cherokee. All three vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Three people suffered injuries as a result of the crash. EMS rendered aid to 66-year-old Kathleen Markman and to juvenile females, ages 9 and 17. The three victims are then transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, for further medical care.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash.
