Lentner, MO (October 24, 2022) – A crash took place in Shelby County that claimed one man’s life. On October 21, troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash on US Highway 36.

According to local law enforcement, at around 6:50 p.m., a 2008 Buick lacrosse crashed into the rear of a 2004 Ford Ranger on US Highway 36 just one mile east of Lentner, Missouri. The impact of the crash caused the Ford to go off the roadway, struck an embankment, and eject both occupants. The Buick then went off the north side of the roadway and came to rest in the field.

The Ford’s driver, 64-year-old Charles Craig of Clarence, Missouri, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Craig was pronounced deceased at the scene by Shelby County Deputy Brown. His passenger, 50-year-old Constance Romanetto of Clarence, Missouri, was flown to the University of Missouri hospital, for emergency treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Buick, 47-year-old Jerry Fifer of Shellbina, Missouri, was transported by Monroe County ambulance to Hannibal regional Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
