Car Accidents in Missouri

Lesterville, MO – Karen Monroe Injured in Two-Vehicle Wreck on Highway JVehicle crashes take place every day in the state of Missouri. Many of these accidents leave victims involved with serious injuries. Trying to overcome the mental and emotional trauma following a crash can be difficult while overcoming physical and financial challenges. When victims are injured in accidents, they are able to file personal injury lawsuits against those who are responsible.

In Missouri, the comparative negligence doctrine is used to determine liability in car accidents. This doctrine states that each party involved in an accident is liable for their own negligence. In other words, if one driver is found to be 50% at fault for an accident, they would be responsible for 50% of the damages.

This doctrine is important because it allows victims of car accidents to recover damages even if they are partly at fault for the accident. For example, if a victim is rear-ended by another driver and it is determined that the victim was 10% at fault for the accident (because they were not paying attention to their surroundings), they would still be able to recover 90% of their damages from the at-fault driver.
