Truck Accidents in Missouri

Morehouse, MO - Charles Maronay, Alyssa Wade & Belinda Kitchen Injured in Three-Vehicle Truck Wreck on US-60 near Highway EMotor vehicle accidents can result in significant pain and suffering for victims. There are thousands of cases where people are hospitalized with severe injuries due to crashes here in our state each year. Unfortunately, many people are left with severe head trauma, spinal cord injuries, and even severe compound fractures, all of which can have a lasting negative impact on the lives of those harmed.

When people are hurt as a result of vehicle collisions, they may be able to file legal action against the responsible party. In Missouri, the legal doctrine of pure comparative negligence applies to car accidents. This means that each driver is responsible for the damages they cause, and their compensation is reduced by an amount equal to their percentage of fault. For example, if a driver causes an accident that results in $10,000 in damages, and they are found to be 20% at fault, they would only be able to recover $8,000 from the other driver.

This can be a harsh rule, especially when one driver is much more at fault than the other. However, it does allow for some degree of fairness when both drivers share some responsibility for the accident.
