Mound City, MO – Two 16-Year-Old Males Killed in Car Crash on I-29 near MM 82

Mound City, MO (October 4, 2022) – Two teens from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, have died as a result of a motor vehicle accident that took place in Holt County on Sunday evening. On October 2, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Interstate 29.

According to reports, at around 640 p.m., a collision between a 2019 Kenilworth tractor trailer and a 2001 Honda Coupe occurred on the northbound side of Interstate 29 near mile marker 82. After the initial crash, the Honda collided with the 2006 Subaru outback.

The impact of the crash sent the Honda off the roadway, where it skidded into a ditch and struck a tree. The Honda and Subaru were both totaled as a result of the crash.

Two males involved in the accident, both 16 years old, suffered fatal injuries. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other victims, 27-year-old Sarah Lockridge and 50-year-old James Hood, were both injured. The two victims were transported to Mosaic life care in St. Joseph, Missouri, by Atchison-Holt Ambulance.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
