Richland Township, MO (October 16, 2022) – A traffic accident that took place in Morgan County has claimed the life of a 16-year-old male from Florence, Missouri. The on October 14, troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified that a collision occurred on Missouri State Route 135.
According to local law enforcement, just after 7:45 p.m., a 2003 Honda civic and a 2020 Ford F350 collided on Missouri State Route 135, just 369 feet north of the Butterfield cutoff. Both vehicles were severely damaged due to the crash and had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Honda, a 16-year-old male from Florence, Missouri, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Morgan County coroner Dr. MB Jones.
The driver of the Ford, 46-year-old Dennis Mefford of Versailles, Missouri, was transported by Mid-Missouri ambulance to Capital Region Hospital for the treatment of injuries.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
